An illustrated history, 1906 to 1940, with emphasis the early and the excellent. In addition to photographs, we reprint from patents and old catalogs to illustrate toasters having thus far escaped collection. We give our opinions on quality, style and performance and make some statements based on adventurous guesses. We are breaking fresh ground, and corrections will be welcome. This guide is not only a price guide, but an educational tool for collectors. Prices on the toasters in the guide, go from $15.00 to $300.00 . Electric toasters date only from about 1908. Before that, there was no wire that could stand red heat ling enough to work in one. This guide is a must for any serious " toaster collector.
