About This Item
From back cover: "For almost half a century, a web of electric interurban trolleys radiated from the two Kansas Cities in every direction except east and southeast. From 1900 to 1940 the big cars of five interurban lines sped to the nearby towns of Olathe, East Zarah, Lawrence, Leavenworth, St. Joseph and Excelsior Springs to offer fast, convenient and affordable transportation in the days before automobiles and paved highways." This book is the definitive history of these lines. It includes facts ans stories with almost 200 photos and other illustrations, also maps and appendices. It also covers the forces which ultimately destroyed them.
