(1943), 391pp. Top and bottom of spine bumped, name and date on the first free endpaper, else G+ in a chipped, poor, well worn dj, which lacks a two inch section at the top of the spine, and a smaller section at the fore edge. In the light blue cloth which is assumed to be the first binding. Like his first novel, NIGHT RIDER, his second novel, is also based on real people and real events. It takes place in the post-World War I era and tells the story of a Tennessee business tycoon, securities manipulator and former U.S. senator, who was imprisoned for his financial dealings..
