Title page and verso of final leaf browned and marked, scattered spotting, early inked ownership inscription of J. Kent Esq. to head of title, manuscript annotations in his hand to âdramatis personaeâ. The first edition of actor and playwright Francis Godolphin Waldronâs (bap. 1743, d. 1818) most performed play (also known as The Imitation, or, The Female Fortune Hunters and, originally, as The Belle's Stratagem), a lively romantic comedy inspired by George Farquhar's (1676/7-1707) The Beaux' Stratagem (1707).
