New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Co., (c. 1899). Hardcover. Very good. Octavo, maroon cloth covers,with gilt titles, vi + 439 pages. Non-authorial inscription on front free endpaper. Includes black and white portraits of male role models in their field, including frontis. of George Dewey; Washington A. Roebling, Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, Henry B. Plant, Thomas Edison, Washington L. Atlee, and Hugh Young, among others. Forty-four chapters of advice and examples. Drysdale (1852-1901) followed this book the next year with "Helps for Ambitious Girls," and was the author of juvenile fiction as well.
