About This Item

Franklin Center, PA: Franklin Library, 1979. [1979] Green, ¼-leather binding, gilt designs and lettering, three raised ridges on spine, gilt on all three sides, marbled endpapers, 403 pages. Translated by Eva Le Gallienne. Illustrated by Tony Eubanks. Condition: Several light indents on gilt fore-edge (from shelving), else overall Fine. New, book ordered direct from the former publisher Franklin Library. Free of smelly old humidity stains and the smoke smell of a cigarette or cigar smoker. Stored in temperature-controlled bookcase. Book never read. Franklin Library (a division of Franklin Mint), published collectible books of high-quality materials. Since the publisher ceased operations in 2000, all editions are considered out-of-print, many uncommon and highly collectible. This book includes the plays A Doll's House, Ghosts, The Wild Duck, and Hedda Gabler. Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen pioneered on the European stage a new method of moral analysis presented against a severely realistic middle-class background. It developed with realistic action, sharp dialogue, and rigorous thought. Ibsen's creative writing eventually became more self-evaluation and symbolic. A wonderful book to own, and very collectible.
