Jakeman and Carver. -, 18761885. 1st. Ed.. Two volume set. Folio. Some minor foxing otherwise the contents are in fine condition. Complete with 77 fine colour chromo-lithographed plates. Handsomely bound in contemporary green half-morocco which is in fine condition. TEG. A lovely provenance - this set has the armorial bookplate of 'John Hopton of Can-Frome in the County of Hereford' on the front paste-downs of both volumes. Only 600 sets of this work were ever produced - a super set of this scarce work. The plates were by Edith Bull, Alice B. Ellis and W.G. Smith (plate 1 only). They were lithographed by G. Severeyns. Published under the auspices of the Woolhope Club. This is one of the finest fruit books ever issued [Great Flower Books, pp.59-60; Nissen 294].
