About This Item
North Ryde, NSW: Angus & Robertson, 1991. First edition. Paperback. Fine copy. Pp. viii, 99. Illustrated. Alister Kershaw was part of a lively group of artists and poets who thrived briefly in Melbourne in the early 1940s. But like many of them he found cultural life in his native Australia to be stultifying, so he went to Europe in 1947 and eventually settled in France where he lived the rest of his life. Nevertheless he kept in touch with his homeland by going to a studio in Paris and recording talks for the Australian Broadcasting Commission. Many in Australia still remember his remarkable voice, and sense of humor, and he in turn was proud of his attachment to his own distant country.
