New York: Grosset & Dunlap, [1935]. 8vo. 285, [1] pp. Black ribbed publisher’s cloth, teal blue lettering (offset toning on pastedowns), w/ d.j. cover art of telephone receiver off the hook by Paul Laune (1899-1977), best known for his Hardy Boys series cover art (minor rubbing head & foot of spine), still NF/VG copy. First Grosset edition of this mystery featuring David Mallory, a struggling reporter working as a switchboard operator in a swank apartment building trying to solve the mystery, Miss Agatha Paget the acerbic and intrepid disabled wheelchair bound polio victim who knows the murderer of her hired genealogist, and the determined niece.
