About This Item

City of Darien, Georgia: Darien Development Authority, 2009. First Edition. . Hardcover. Very Fine/Very Fine. VF/VF/1st ed., Signed. Buddy Sullivans lastest book, fresh from the printer and signed yesterday afternoon. The author places Darien Georgia and its experience with timber in historical context through a review of the town's maritime history and the development (and subsequent decline) of a timber industry that at one time was the most prosperous on the U.S. east coast. He relates some of the personalities and events associated with local timber. These were the prominent timber sellers and sawmill owners, as well as African American mill workers and stevedores, and the local watermen, particularly the bar pilots, all of whom played such an important role in the postbellum history of Darien. Book Condition is Very Fine; brown paper over boards, with gold lettering to front and spine. 116pp. First Edition, first printing. B&W photos, endnotes for each section, index. Absolutely new. No wear of any kind. Signed by Mr. Sullivan on the title page. Dust Jacket Condition is Very Fine; no wear. Covered with a removable mylar dust jacket. Comes to you in an acid free document bag for storage. And I can have it in the mail to you tomorrow. BASG
