About This Item

Bangkok: The Siam Society Monograph No.1, 1966. 3rd Ed., 1st-1961 . Light blue printed card. VG-/Good-VG for genre. 17.5 Cms x 24 Cms. double sided f/piece plate+xiv (ix-xiv being maps)+96, numerous unnumbered double-sided plates ex-pagination throughout, typically with 4 images per side, 3 (i.e. 6 pp.) being coloured, also inc. charts; only internal fault is to blank front endpaper leaf gutter which has been awkwardly bound with two gutter staples (extending throughout textblock), this has caused paper tearing around staple points, rear endpaper is okay as stapling stops with final text page, endpaper being glues to back cover; covers clean and unworn but slight fading spine region and top edge; unclipped jacket with very narrow wraparound has col.photo to lower half of front, clean but some minor edge chipping to top + some short nicks now closed internally, bottom edge better but small chip beside spine, also some whitish discoloration along bottom edge (will add protective sleeve when ordered).. Describes 16 tribes in turn. A thorough work by author who was raised in the region from a child. Uncommon. Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
