New York: The Macmillan Company, 1909. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good +. 8vo. P.l., xxiii, 436p., 7 maps, 4p. ads; xvii, 439p., 3 f/o maps, 4p. ads. 2 volumes, bound in burgundy cloth with gilt image to front board of each volume, and gilt lettering to spines. Spines with very light wear at head and heel. Top edges gilt. New endpapers, with bookplate to front pastedown in each volume. Illustrated with black and white plates throughout, some folding, with several maps. Fold-out maps in volume 2 in colour, in fine condition. Books very clean, bindings are tight and square. A very good set. Complete in 2 volumes, a third volume was added in 1916.
