NY: Atheneum, 1969. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo. 246pp. First edition. Full blue cloth with gilt spine titles, front board blind embossing, and light yellow topstain. Light bumping to spine ends, light dulling/soiling to topstain. Unclipped "$5.75" jacket has a 1/4" closed tear and related crease at top of front panel, a very short nick at top of spine panel, and light rubbing/soiling to rear. Second book by the Israeli novelist Susan Sontag praised as being one of the three greatest writers she had discovered in translation, a story about the relationship between a nurse and a despairing soldier wounded in the siege of 1948. Translated from the Hebrew by Yosef Shachter.

All books ship free with tracking to domestic addresses via USPS Media Mail. In most cases, delivery takes place within a three to ten day window, although the vicissitudes of USPS may apply. Unless otherwise requested, expedited domestic purchases ship via USPS Priority Mail; overseas orders via USPS First Class International. Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts. Pamphlets and other flat materials items are ocassionally shipped in bubble-mailers with internal cardboard supports. All books with dust jackets are fitted with brand new archival protectors prior to shipping.
