About This Item

1750 ISLAM 1ed History of Muslim Caliphs ARAB Abbasid Revolution Al-Musta-sim

Francois Auguier de Marigny's "Histoire des Arabes" is one of the best and most thorough histories of the Muslim caliphs following the Muhammed. From the 6th-century on, caliphs were the leaders of the Islamic world, a position which was recognized into the 20th-century. In 750, the Abbasid Revolution overthrew the Umayyad's and the Abbasid Dynasty established a new line of caliph leadership, a line which would have the longest tenure of reign and ruled powerfully over much of the known world.

Marigny's "Arabes" covers the reigns of the earliest caliphs through the death of Al-Musta'sim in 1258. This impressive four-volume first edition was published in 1750 Paris.
