Bound in contemporary half red calf over marbled paper boards, the spines with raised bands, ruled and decorated in gilt, gilt titles. Marbled endpapers and page edges. 450 + 440 pp. Heraldic bookplate of Samuel Eliot on front endpapers. Covers and backs slightly rubbed, scuffed, slight loss to extremities. Pencil notation on rear endpaper. Pages crisp, scattered foxing. A very good, attractive set in sound, clean bindings.
