Armorial bookplate to front pastedown of Reverend William Grice (1813-1885). Scattered foxing. Numerous full-page and in-text illustrations by Raffet. Text in French. Binding firm. Large 8vo. A very attractive copy in a splendid binding. First edition of this richly illustrated life of Napoleon, with engraved frontispiece and hundreds of full-page and in-text wood-engraved illustrations by Raffet, handsomely bound in full contemporary decorative vellum.
