Luxury consumption - small woodcut ornament to titles, private library small ink stamp to titles, vol.1 has 7 consecutive lines (A8 + B1) with ink scoring, but perfectly legible, B6 upper blank corner neatly trimmed away, one or two small marginal tears with loss, excellent 19th century calf-backed marbled boards, gilt spine in compartments. [Aguilar Pinal VII, 4611; Colmeiro, Bibliografía de los economistas espanoles 360; Kress B.1489], A close to Fine set, 8vo, Madrid, Royal Printers, 1788. A rare work. The author (1754-1830) was a Spanish politician, jurist, economist, and bibliographer. He condemns lavish spending as a vice, but acknowledges its necessity to keep industry and the state thriving.
