Original flush-cut diaper grain green cloth ruled and decorated front and rear in blind, and lettered in gilt on the front cover ('Bennett's Account of South Australia'); cloth slightly mottled and marked, and a little rubbed at the extremities; endpapers replaced; minimal signs of use and age; a very good copy. The author lived in South Australia from March 1839 to March 1842; chapters include 'Sketch of Adelaide and Surrounding Villages - Colonial Life and Manners', 'The Native Inhabitants', and 'Information for Emigrants', plus an appendix bringing the information up to date to the end of 1842. Ferguson 3566 (mentioning four different bindings, but not noting this one or a secondary binding of salmon-pink cloth, the one most commonly encountered these days).
