GOOD. 20 matched volumes published by Appleton 1899-1900. 5"x7.5", black cloth covers with gilt lettering and design on spine and embossment on front cover, gilded upper page edges. This is an attractive set that shows a little wear. Good+ to Very Good+, with most being Very Good. The worst is a child's pencil scribbling on the first few pages of two volumes. A number of the volumes are a little split at the interior hinges but all are sound. Lettering and design on spines is clear and bright. Spines are attractive but all show slight wear, with one volume showing some loss of color. Paper is slightly yellowing but holding up very well. Rather scarce in this large edition.
