The first edition of this uncommon topographical study on Worcester, a beautifully illustrated work by Valentine Green. The first edition of this uncommon work.Complete as two volumes bound in one.Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, an engraved title, one folding plate, and thirteen plates.Volume II is illustrated with an engraved title, two folding plates, and eight plates.Four pages of adverts to the front of Volume I.Collated, complete. A detailed study of the history of Worcester, by the noted British mezzotinter, author, and print publisher Valentine Green. The work is enlivened by Green's own detailed engravings of the city, faithfully depicting the beautiful and historical architecture of WorcesterA popular engraver, Green was appointed mezzotint engraver to the King in 1773, and the following year was elected an associate engraver with the Royal Academy. In a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clea with the occasional scattered spot. Light tide mark to a few plates. Folding plates repaired with tape to the reverse. Scorch march to the head of the final fifty leaves of Volume II, with neat repairs by a prior owner. Very Good
