Paris NY: Grolier Society. c1900. ltd to 100.. Hardcover. NEAR FINE books. Dark blue full leather w gilt lettered spines and elaborate gilt turn ins. FLAWLESS but for scuffed extrems. . This set #19 of 100. This stated on the tp verso of each vol, without any other info noted, not even a cp date. Normally a 25 vol set, this is MISSING the vol with "Peg Woffington". A pencilled note dated 1/16/66 in "Never To Late To Mend" vol states this. The condition of the set partially makes up for the lost "Peg". Flaws are minor and confined to the covers. Some edge scuffing. Spine ends scuffed and a few are creased but there are no tears, not even as little as 1/10". Some tips worn a bit. Internally, strictly FINE, including all 48 hinges, pastedowns, gilted text block top edges, text, plates and tissue guards. Deckled (rough cut) fore and bottom edges are age browned somewhat. This very common with all rough cut text block edges. .
