Edges of the covers somewhat bumped; slightly worn at head and tail; the free end papers are all uniformly tanned. The book block is slightly yellowed with no foxing and appears unread. An ex-library copy with all stamps, labels and numbers removed except a gilt stamp on spine "Graaff Reinet Library". 4 folding maps of old trade routes, complete, no tissue guards present. History of British involvement in India from the fifteenth century to the seventeenth, covering the quest to establish sea trade with the lands beyond the Cape of Good Hope, the establishment of the East India Company and competition with the Dutch and Portuguese.
