From the blurb: "William Pinks, bookbinder, teacher, historian and journalist, was born in Clerkenwell in 1829 in 1854 but died of consumption at the age of twenty-nine in Granville Square, Finsbury, before he could complete it. The book first appeared in monthly instalments between 1861 and 1865 edited and revised by Edward WoodL A masterpiece of historical research, illustrated with nearly two hundred engravings, it has been out of print for over a century. This facsimile is published by Francis Boutle Publishers in an edition of 500 copies. Very Good in Very Good dustwrapper.
