The spine and the front cover have stamped gilt lettering and ornamental designs. The decorative designs on the front cover are blind stamped on the rear cover. The book shows external wear, with mildew markings to upper corners of rear cover, light soiling and mild rubbing to the covers. The spine has nicks. The front hinge is cracked. Repair can be seen to the gutter of blank preliminary pages, as well as to verso and the title page. The title page and repaired first page of preface display loss, with loss to the text of the latter. Preface has only the first page of text. This volume has gilt edges and moire endpapers. The pages are largely clean and bright, with only a small amount of light foxing/offsetting. Annotations in pencil appear on first blank page at the rear of the volume. This work contains numerous plates offering views of towns, buildings, farms, landmarks, as well as portraits of prominent citizens and/or historical figures. There are also a color outline map of the country. Text appears in double columns. Armorial bookplate, name not on it. .
