A respectable first edition / Fifth printing with bumped upper and lower spine, light rubbing on all edges and corners lacking dust-jacket. Blue cloth; The Donner Party was a group of pioneers who set out from California in 1846 in an attempt to cross the Sierra Nevada mountains. The group was composed of about 60 people, but only about half of them made it to the other side. The remaining 40 members of the party were killed by snow and cold, and by hostile Indians.; B&W Illustrations and Photographs; 8vo; 261 pages .
