A HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING PEOPLES: THE AGE OF REVOLUTION by Winston Churchill - 1957

A History of the English-Speaking Peoples is a four-volume history of Britain and its former colonies and possessions throughout the world, written by Winston Churchill, covering the period from Caesar's invasion of Britain (55 BC) to the end of the Boer War (1902). It was started in 1937 and finally published 1956–58, in four volumes.

This is Volume III, The Age of Revolution. In it, Churchill charts the 125 years that saw the rise of Great Britain as a world power and the long rivalry with France, the shadow of the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and his defeat at Waterloo. The volume also covers the rise of the American colonies, their triumphant overthrow of British rule in the War of Independence and the first great generation of American leaders: Washington, Adams and Jefferson.

This is a first printing of the first edition, published by Cassell in 1957. It is plain burgundy boards with gold lettering on the spine. Inside, there are some full-page maps, but there is no other adornment. 332 pages, including index.

The dust jacket is unclipped and the shelf-wear is as you see it—little marks and one small tear that can be repaired. There is a small brown mark on the outside of the pages, which you can see in the photos. The spine has two small dents in it, which look like a production error.

Other than that, it's in pristine condition. The pages are creamy white, clear and clean.
