About This Item
London, ON: Published by the Regiment, 1981. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. pp: viii 195 [1]. Dark blue cloth covered boards. The second edition that focuses on the history of the Regiment during the Second World War. Includes several photographs, a folding map at the end of the text. The appendix contains a Roll of Honour, list of officers who served overseas, and commanding officers. The DD tanks of the 1st Hussars were amongst the allied forces to come ashore on Juno Beach. They were to act as infantry support. Many of the tanks never made it to the beach, sinking as the inflated support failed. The surviving tanks, and replacements, took part in several major conflicts during the battles for Normandy. A near fine copy.
