Boston:, 1866. Presentation copy inscribed by the author on ffep and dated Dec. 18, 1883. 3/4 Comtemporary brown cloth with flag-bearing soldier embossed in gold on front cover. An important Civil War regimental history that saw action in many of the most famous battles including First Bull Run, Yorktown, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and Spottsylvania Court House. Cudworth, the Chaplain, describes in detail his experiences and what he personally witnessed. This is a highly interesting and detailed history hightlighted by many descriptions of plantations, and conversations with slaves.
