Philadelphia: Hallowell & Co, 1875. Wraps. Good - condition. A history of the First Troop, part of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, the oldest mounted American military unit, and one of the oldest units in continuous service. The Troopers fought at the Battle of Princeton, served as escorts to General Washington at Trenton, took part in the War of 1812 and in the Civil War fought near Gettysburg.
The volume includes 18 plates, including a portrait of Abraham Markoe, the first Captain, a color plate of the standard carried in the Revolution, and a plate of the Troop's Armory built 1874.
Large 4to, v, 196pp, 18 plates, Appendix, Index. An unopened copy, early pages marked, chipped at edges; late pages damp stained at top edge, some signs of insect damage. Paper wrappers and spine missing, but binding firm, plates bright and clean. OCLC 16839648.
