Pasted onto the rear blank page is a contemporary real albumen photograph (115 x 155 mm) of a monument in the churchyard at Newchurch in Rosendale - "sacred to the memory of Old, Thu (Methuselah Yates) Died 27th February 1860, aged 78. Hew was a huntsman of Harrier's for 50 years Five and twenty of which were with the Rosendale Hunt. Erected by the members of the Rossendale Hunt." [Due to the fact that the monument looks pristine and newly-completed, the photograph must be very near contemporary with the publication of the book]. Publisher plum cloth with gilt lettering and vignette of deer to the front board, bevelled edges; very good with a little general wear and light rubbing to head and tail of the spine, which is slightly faded. Contents good and tight. Provenance: with the signature of Thomas Wm LLoyd and engraved armorial bookplate of the same to the front paste-down. A very good copy. . First Edition. Hardcover.
