The front cover is cracked at the hinge, but the book is a worthy collectible due to the 1854 date and overall condition.

Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing, mild to end-papers and text-block edges. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Some occasional mild cracking to gutters throughout however binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Famed full-color frontispiece is intact, as is tipped-in protective tissue. All nine B&W engravings are intact.Spine is discolored and darker than rest of jacket, with wear on heel and top. Small markings on FFEP. A few pages have deckled bottom edges. Pages are age tanned and have small stains.
