About This Item

Cover has some wear along the edges. Front, right, top corner is creased. There is a sticker on the back from a previous retailer. Binding are tight. Pages have some browning. Page edges have some dirt. No writing noted. Non smoking environment.

Lace developed prior to the 16th Century from the drawn work, cutwork and lacis (darning on squares of net) that evolved out of centuries of embroidery and needlework. Traces of elaborate netting have been found in the tombs of ancient Egypt: the Bible mentions ". . . fine twisted linen wrought with needlework. . .: and centuries-old Scandinavian buria2l chambers have yielded fragments of gold lace.
