Hardcover. 8vo - 22 x 14 cm.; xl - 342 pp. Brown cloth over boards with gilt lettering and a scroll decoration on the spine and the front board and single gilt border rule on the front board and a blind stamped border rule on the back board. The title page continued: ". . . Second Superior-General of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyons. Preceded by sketches of the origin of the congregation, and of Mother St. John, née Pontbonne, First Superior General." Translated from the original French by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. Illustrated with 10 full page photographic plates on a coated paper of various foundations or houses of the order. Very minor wear to the book and the gilt work is very bright. The binding is a sewn one onto 2 cords and the cords have given rise to small tears in the front end paper hinge. Otherwise very clean, bright and a sound binding. Unusual in such a good condition to say the least and has a very good presentation. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. .
