New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1879. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. vol. I 577p. with map at time of Francis I, 1515; Vol. 2 681p. index for both volumes. Penciling. Original olive green cloth with light wear at edges. Pages that were uncut have been cut. The history of the persecution and flight of the Huguenots that coincided with the French economic debacle and the rise of other national economies while France's Catholic and aristocratic power centers led to its own demise of the monarchy. Very important early history of the events.
