Contemporary full polished calf, somewhat marked and worn, the spine gilt decorated with raised bands, gilt stamped decoration. Among his works are Zoography, 1807, Index testaceologicus, 1818, Index entomologicus, 1839, British Marine Conchology with G.B. Sowerby, 1844, etc. Bound in half green morocco, gilt-decorated spine with shell tooling, marble boards, missing leather title label, a.e.g., scuffed and bumped. Plates clean and bright with delicate handcolour.

Condition: Fine. First Published in 1926. Elegant full crushed morocco blue leather binding by Riviere & Son with portrait of Pepys on the front. Gilt edges. Marbled endpapers. Some rubbing to rear of spine at hinge, otherwise flawless. 60 illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. A gorgeous book in NF slipcase.

Boards are in Fine condition with no scuffing, fading or wear. SIGNED inscription by Boucard to Edmound Perrier, Director du Museum de Paris. Text block is in Fine condition without any markings, or discoloration, and is bright, clean, and tight. A very attractive copy is seldom found in commerce in this condition. With ALS to Perrier, and a 24 page pamphlet by Boucard titled OBJETS EXPOSES published for an International Exposition in Paris, 1889.Boucard was noted for his extensive travels and adventures as a Naturalist. His travels are best described by the title as: A Record of Adventures, Discoveries, History and Customs of Americans and Indians, Habits and Descriptions of Animals, Chiefly Made in North America, California, Mexico, Central America, Columbia, Chile, Etc., During the Last Forty-Two Years.

This copy is complete despite the jump in pagination after page 107 ; it corresponds with that in the British Library. Internally very good subject to moderate browning, some fraying to the fep and fairly inoffensive evidence of moisture to the edges of the first few leaves. Hinges cracked although binding still holding. Cover, which looks to be contemporary, rather worn. The boards scuffed with wear to the edges and corners. The ornate spine has significant wear to both extremities. Scans available.

Publisher's half dark green leather with marbled boards, endpapers and edges, 5 gilt decorated raised bands on spine, gilt lettering in two of the compartments on the spine, gilt decoration in the remaining four. The first eight volumes are dated 1803, with the remaining eight volumes dating from1812 to 1827. . Leather spines are brittle and chipped with some loss at the heads of the spine on about five of the volumes, rubbing but no loss at the bottom of the spines and the tips, hinges are rubbed, but holding, former owner's name in elegant cursive at top of title page, else unmarked, square and clean. In contemporary unlettered full calf (a little worn with minor loss to board corners, sometime skilfully rebacked in matching leather), five raised spine bands, internally clean with only the lightest of occasional dust staining. Muller was deputy head of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where he was instrumental to its transformation into a disciplined cadet academy. An attractive first edition example of his first work. Laurence Sterne possessed the text in second edition, with possible influence on Uncle Toby and Corporal Trim's obsessions with fortification in The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy. ESTC T176381.
