'The Present State of the Ottoman Empire. Containing the maxims of the Turkish Polity; ... In three books by Sir Paul Rycaut. London, Printed by J.D. 1687'. The second part of the first work is with separate half-title, 'The Memoirs of Sir Paul Rycaut, containing the history of the Turks from the year 1660, to the year 1678. With the remarkable passages relating to the English Trade in the space of 18 years'. Sir Paul Rycaut (1629-1700) was first employed as private secretary to the British Ambassador to Constantinople and later became British Consul and factor at Smyrna.
