LONDON: PRIVATELY PUBLISHED , 1836 Contemporary Half Calf Leather with gilt tooled titles and marbled paper boards. Vol I viii + 498 pp Fold Out list of the charters and grants + numerous unspecified steel engravings. 1837 Vol II xii + 683 + list of additions and corrections. 1836.The author was Librarian to the Corporation of London and the work has continued to be of interest resulting in it being re printed by David and Charles. Please see our images of the actual books offered for sale for further details and condition. Good (Books -Heavy Shelf wear/rubbing to leather and paper covered boards. Restoration carried out by us:- New leather head caps to both vols and new leather tail cap to Vol I - both vols have been hand re- lettered in gold leaf. NB The leather had clearly not been treated/ handled for many years resulting in it becoming dry and powdery. We have given it a proprietary dressing and waxed which has significantly improved the condition. Sewing cords and binding generally sound. Armorial book plates (Same) to both front paste downs. A few light foxing spots to prelims. and paper of book blocks evenly tanned).
