DJ has light shelf-wear present to the DJ extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards lightly rubbed and worn. Another installment by the author to attempt to polarize Christian ethos and modern attitudes, by using an allegorical tale. Using 2 figures, Giovanni now old and blind, and, Tobias the eternal wanderer, from his previous novels, they are cast upon a bleak and desolate coast where they take shelter in an ancient temple. Par Lagerkvist (1891-1974) , the author of some thirty-five books, was celebrated in his time for his versatility as a poet, dramatist, essayist, and novelist. Ex-library copy, DJ beneath mylar shows illustration of abstract ruins on front and spine, b/w phot of Nobel-Prize-winner on back by Lennart Nilsson. DJ has no sign that it is ex-library, only sign in books is glue remnant from card on first front end paper and ink notation at bottom of title page with a number, 85 heavy lightly browned pages plus biographical note. DJ has light wear to front tips, very tiny tear to top back edge next to spine. Near Fine, considering it is ex-library.
