Oxford/London: T. & G. Shrimpton/Macmillan. Very attractive half leather with yellow, blue, and red marbled boards and raised bands and red title label on the spine. The author's last name and the published date are stamped in gilt on the spine. Some hardly discernible residue around the last name may indicate the loss of a red name label on the spine. Bookplate of the notable book collector Sydney Ross, four small scrapes inside front cover where bookplate may have been removed, else Very Good Plus. Bryce's first classic work in collectable condition. Rare. . Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 1864.
