Indianapolis: Bobbs-Merrill, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 5 3/4 X 8 1/4 Inches. 318 PP. Original red cloth binding with gilt title-stamping to cover and spine. Signed and inscribed by Crabb. Inscribed "For Andrew C. Dorris / Bound to the Hermitage by the most endearing bonds / Alfred L. Crabb" direclty on the half title-page. A wonderful association copy as Andrew Dorris was the son of Mary C. Dorris, one of the founders of the Ladies Hermitage Association and author of "Preservation of the Hermitage" (1915). Dorris was the most outspoken pioneer of preservation for the historic home of Andrew and Rachel Jackson (her cousin). A very attractive copy. Light wear and some minor loss at edges of jacket.
