Black cloth and spine gilt all bright, corners sharp Lower panel of dust jacket with photo of Gipson, his wife and two hildren by Grace David. The Home Place was made into a 20th Century-Fox Picture called The Return of the Texan featuring Dale Roberts,Joanne Dru and Walter Brennan. During the 1950s, after many years in Kansas City, widower Sam Crockett, his 2 children and his grandpa return to their abandoned family farm in Texas and face many difficulties.

Black covers with gilt lettering, which is faded some, on spine. Bottom corners of covers are bumped and worn, and bottom end of spine is worn and torn. Bottom of back cover has a small nick by spine. Covers have some edge wear. Spine is slightly cocked. Front endpaper has a note about returning the book.
