Pp. xviii176, frontispiece with tissue guard, plus 11 plates; cr. 8vo; green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, the boards faintly scuffed, edges lightly worn; t.e.g., others uncut; bookplate of Benjamin Tindale on upper pastedown, bookseller's stamp outer leaves offset, a little light foxing; George Allen, London, 1902. Third edition (revised). *First published in 1887. The 'Ladies of the Thwaite' with whom Ruskin corresponded were sisters Mary and Susanna Beever. 'Susie' Beever and John Ruskin met in 1873 and became close friends, writing to each other frequently until Susanna's death.
