About This Item

Methuen, 1936. Hardcover. VG+/VG. 8th Edition. Blue cloth with black stamped vignette of Pooh and Christopher Robin to the front and titles to the spine, xi (i) 178(2)pp with black and white illustrations by E H Shepard throughout. In original yellow dust jacket with 2/6 price to the spine. Clean, bright boards with just a hint of shelf wear and a touch of pushing to the corners. Internally there is an ownership name and date to the front free endpaper but otherwise the pages are very clean and there is just a faint band of toning to the free endpapers where the dust jacket does not reach. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown), has a little light marking and toning to the spine. There is rubbing to the corners and spine tips, minor loss to the bottom joints and small 0.7 x 1 cm chip to the lower joint on the front panel. There is also a little creasing to the front flap. All in all a very good early copy of this lovely book. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.

Synopsis

The House at Pooh Corner (1928) is the second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. It is notable for the introduction of the character Tigger, who went on to become a prominent figure in the Disney Winnie the Pooh franchise. The title comes from a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet build a house for Eeyore. In another story the game of Poohsticks is invented.
