About This Item

London: Morley & Mitchell Kennerley, 1931. First U.K. Edition. 1st Impression. Octavo (19cm.); green boards titled in blue on title and spine; purple topstain; 367pp.; spine ends are pushed; rubbing to spine / lettering begining to fade; some finger soiling to covers; bit of foxing to endpapers; Very Good+, lacking the dustjacket.

This is an account of Bill Sidney, from his school days to mid-life and his awkward relationships with women. The book alternates between a third-person segment that implies murderous intent and the main second-person narrative and jumps back and forth in time.

Synopsis

In 1929, Stout wrote his first published book  How Like a God , an unusual psychological story told in the second person, in a man's mind as he walks up several flights of stairs.
