Another in the wonderful series that introduced science & nature to kids in the 1960s. This is one of the hardcover Deluxe Editions, which have the same design as the soft covers, but with laminated paper over boards. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1961, in 48 pages, with illustrations throughout by Walter Ferguson, best known for his drawings for the "Misty of Chincoteague" books. Condition is Near Fine: just slightly less crisp than Brand New! Completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages white with just a hint of tanning around edges. Covers bright with vivid colors, paper slightly splitting at lower front joint near foot of spine. Former owner's name stamped in small letters to title page, & some page #s on table of contents have pen marks on them.
