About This Item
Palo Alto, CA American West Publishing Company, 1968. Hardcover First Edition [1968], unstated, in accordance with American West's customary practice. First Edition [1968], unstated, in accordance with American West's customary practice. Very Good+ in Fair DJ: Book shows just a bit of dusting to the buckram over boards; the binding is cocked, but remains perfectly secure; the text is clean. Free of any other ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. The DJ shows significant wear to extremities and some chip loss to rubbing and apparent insect or rodent damage; there is a six-inch, mostly closed tear at the lower front panel and several short, closed tears; moderate rubbing; price has not been clipped; mylar-protected. A relatively handsome copy in a challenged DJ. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Oblong 4to. (11 x 10.9 x 0.75 inches). 64 pages. Illustrated in color and black & white, with 12 full-color plates. Introduction by John C. Ewers. Weight: 1 pound, 14.6 ounces. Hardback with DJ. After nearly ninety years of relative obscurity, these drawings have been rediscovered by ethnologists. Surviving in all their brillance, they leave an intriguing record of the significant events that helped transform the Cheyennes from semi sedentary farming tribe into nomadic warriors.
