All pages very slightly yellowing. Maps as eps; slightly tarnished gold titles on spine; bright gold armorial on front; colored armorial bearings as frontis with tissue guard; ix plus 289pp incl index, 2 Appendices; 14 col illus of ships of the line; 4 b&w photo plates of prominent men (complete). ASSOCIATION on ffep H M S Carthage AMC VOGAGE dated 5/9/40 to 17/9/40 (during W W II): carrying 28 signatures of the Ship's Captain, officers and men, 3 Lt Cdrs and a fellow passenger. Vernon Fairbrass was apparently the owner of the book. HMS Carthage was in service from 1931 to 1961. Association Copy. First Edition. Hard Cover Blue Cloth. Fine in Plastic/None. 239x34mm.

Covering the whole book means that the common edge-wear described by so many dealers is mostly absent in our books. Any "plastic" is easily removable, it is not adhered to the book nor to the dust jacket. We do not use sellotape nor any other tape which discolours. We restore books where necessary and describe ONLY EXCEPTIONS to a perfect state. Faults in expensive books are described in huge detail. WHEN RESTORED the majority of "faults'' are visible only with great difficulty and certainly NOT in an image. To avoid misleading you we include few images. Please be guided by the very full descriptions. If no faults are described in a cheaper book, please be guided by the Condition. RESTORATION SERVICE. We restore any book younger than 1800 making your grotty, broken old books look like beautifully-cared-for precious old books. DUST JACKETS IN FACSIMILE. We provide colour copies of any DJ in our stock. Please ask for quotes, images & descriptions.
