Bobbs-Merrill, 1940. First Edition . Cloth. Very Good/Fair. (1st edition) Larger, sturdy book, red background lightly browned, yellow lettering on spine fine, 344 pages. In black ink on first front end paper: "To our beloved Hazel and Derby on the day of our return from Brazil. Faithfully, Bertita," then in Portuguese, "...A nossas boas qualidades qunao sa poures," signed "Jack," Bertita's husband and fellow writer. In ink nearby "Pre-publication copy. Sept. 26, 1940." DJ glossy beneath mylar with colorful ornate illustration of couple in folk costumes on front and spine. DJ has tiny chip at top front tip, very slight wear to front bookfold edge, very small v-chip at top front edge, very slight surface wear to long spine edges, very tiny tears with creases at top back edge, thin chipping along bottom back edge. Fair DJ/Very Good Book.
