Hardcover Book in Dust Jacket. Early Reprint. Book in Very Good Condition with a square and tight binding. Light foxing to end papers and previous owner's name on half title page otherwise contents clean, bright and unmarked. Jacket is in Good+ Condition, is whole and complete and shows light edge wear and soiling. I have enclosed the jacket in a removable mylar sleeve to protect it from further wear. Originally published in 1956, this is an early edition c. 1960 with a $2.95 jaket price. Titles on rear cover list to Yertle the Turtle (1958) and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back (1958) with no additional titles beyond that date listed. Book is large format hardcover with it's original dust jacket and measures approximately 11.5" x 8.5".
Synopsis
If I Ran the Circus is a children's book by Dr. Seuss, published in 1956 by Random House. Although it is perhaps not the best known of Seuss's books, its title is often used in North American English as a saying for introducing an opinion. Like The Cat in the Hat, or the more political Yertle the Turtle, If I Ran the Circus develops a theme of cumulative fantasy leading to excess. The overt social commentary found in the Sneetches and the Zax demonstrates that Dr.
