By his own admission he set out for Moscow on April 23, 1930, to collect material for a book on Bolshevism "to join the great horde of scoundrels, duffers and liars who have been flooding the book markets of the world for the last ten years with books about the Bolsheviks."

Beige boards with patterned design to spine strip lightly soiled and shelfworn, with light wear along edges. Internally end-pages just slightly age-toned with a previous owners bookplate to inside front board but otherwise clean. The binding is tight with hings intact.  The dust jacket is in good condition, still in one piece but soiled and shelfworn, with many chips and tears to edges and folds. The spine strip has been reinforced on verso, with an old tear to front cover repaired with same. It is not price clipped.

A few marks to covers, otherwise just about fine in a lightly sunned dust jacket with a handful of small closed tears, mended on the underside with cellotape that has discolored the cloth; pinhole to front panel. 8vo, 299pp with list of author's books tipped in at rear; off-white cloth stamped in black and red. O'Flaherty was a Communist earlier in his life, but had left the party by the time of his visit to the USSR.

[without accomplishing one's purpose] Liam O’Flaherty.” Very good general condition in original cloth but exterior moderately aged and dust soiled without dust jacket. A scarce O’Flaherty title to find signed.
